NU, Weitz to negotiate on North Stadium project
The University of Nebraska has entered the contract negotiation phase with The Weitz Co., an Omaha design and construction firm, in the initial step in the North Stadium expansion project. Four firms were interviewed for the job to complete designs for and build the project, said Rebecca Koller, assistant vice president and director of facilities planning and management.
The original timeline called for completion of the expanded seating area in the North Stadium by fall 2005. However, the total project is now slated for completion by August 2006. The cost of both design and construction will come in under $40.8 million, Koller said.
