'Human cartoon' Trautman cuts up at Lied

Clown extraordinaire/physical comedian Michael Lane Trautman will present his family-friendly show My Misspent Youth at 7 p.m. March 9 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts.

Michael Lane Trautman breaks all the rules. He's a mime that talks, a clown who's funny, a juggler who doesn't throw things, a magician who fools himself. He's a human cartoon, performing all the things his mother warned him never to do. Trautman will put foreign objects into his big mouth, run with long pointy sticks, put his key in the electrical outlet, and many other dangerous tricks. All for your amusement.

My Misspent Youth is a collection of short theater pieces that run the gamut from illusionary mime to spoken monologue, from unique juggling routines to jaw-dropping magic, and from abstract concepts to concrete physical comedy.

Expanding on the family atmosphere, the Lied Center will host LiedFamFest beginning at 5:30 p.m. Every one with tickets to the show is invited to come early for this family-friendly party. There will be free food and soft drinks, as well as entertainment and hands-on activities. LiedFamFest is sponsored by Pepsi-Cola, Runza Restaurants, and Time Warner Cable.

Tickets for this performance are $12; students are half-price. Call 472-4747 for tickets.
