Museum collection open to the public Sept. 24

For one day, the University of Nebraska State Museum is opening its collection of more than 1 million research specimens to the public.

In an open house and behind-the-scenes tour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 24, the museum's collection in Nebraska Hall will be open for public viewing. Visitors can meet museum scientists, ask questions and visit research labs on the fourth and fifth floors of Nebraska Hall. Use the main doors to the west for entry to the open house.

Collections include insects, birds and mammals, parasitology, botany, fossil elephants and camels, and ethnographic materials.

Free parking is available in any UNL area 10 lot. The tour is free with a UNL faculty, staff or student identification card. General admission is $8 for a family, $4 for an adult and $2 for children. Admission includes entry to the Nebraska Hall tour and a visit to the NU State Museum (Morrill Hall).
