The exhibition explores the influences and intersections of art and design; particularly the role art plays in interior design, architecture, and furniture decoration. The exhibition will run through March 2008.

The Kruger Collection was founded in 1997 with the donation of Eloise Kruger's 20,000-piece collection of 1:12 scale miniatures. Kruger began assembling her collection in the late 1930s and it includes the work of top miniature artists including Eric Pearson, Eugene Kupjack, Bob Carlisle, Warren Dick, Mell Prescott and Betty Valentine.

A gallery opening event will be March 21 following a 4:30 p.m. address by Chicago architect Elva Rubio, who maintains her own firm as well as serving as design director at the architectural firm of Gensler Chicago. She has combined teaching with professional practice throughout her career at the School of the Art Institute, the Illinois Institute of Technology and the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her work is appreciated for its creative use of materials and concern for energy conservation. Rubio's design for Pond Studios - a textile and carpet firm's new headquarters built in LaGrange, Ga. - won both Distinguished Building and Interior Architecture awards from the Chicago chapter of the American Institute of Architects in 1997.

In conjunction with the exhibition opening, Volume 7 of In.Form, a journal of architecture, design, and material culture published by the UNL College of Architecture will be available for purchase.

The Kruger Gallery is located on the first floor of Architecture Hall. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by appointment (closed university holidays).
