Professors selected for 'Nebraska Masterpieces' series

Three UNL professors have been selected to take part in the Nebraska American Masterpieces Arts Education series created by the Nebraska Arts Council.

The project will use posters and billboards to promote famous Nebraska artists to schools statewide.

Teachers will be able to integrate the artists' work into the classroom, with a goal of making Nebraska students aware of the work of contemporary artists who live or are from the Cornhusker state.

UNL professors included in the series are Keith Jacobshagen, Michael James and Karen Kunc.

Jacobshagen and Kunc are professors of art and art history, with specialties in painting and ceramics, respectively.

James is a professor of textiles, clothing and design.

Other artists included in the series are Kent Bellows, Larry Ferguson and Jun Kaneko.

The artists were selected by a panel of distinguished museum and gallery directors from Nebraska.

A team of faculty from UNO's Center for Innovation in the Arts Education developed curriculum for each artist.
