'WAR/DANCE' opens Feb. 8 at the Ross

"WAR/DANCE," a documentary that follows a group of school children as they overcome nearly insurmountable odds to participate in the annual Kampala Music Festival, opens Feb. 8 at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center.

In "WAR/DANCE," the children of the Pantongo Primary School have qualified for the Kampala Music Festival - and are determined to take home the championship. However, after more than 20 years of war in Northern Uganda, the children are among 60,000 survivors living in a refugee camp.

"WAR/DANCE," by Sean Fine and Andrea Nix Fine, tells the stories of these children and how they have come together to compete.

"WAR/DANCE," rated PG-13 for some thematic material involving descriptions of war atrocities, plays through Feb. 14 at the Ross. For more information, including show times, go to www.theross.org or call the film information line at 472-5353.
