'Nebraska Concerts' features performances by UNL ensembles

In February "Nebraska Concerts" offers performances by the Third Chair Chamber Players, the Omaha Symphony Orchestra and recitals from faculty in UNL's School of Music. The weekly NET Radio series of fine music performed and recorded on Nebraska's stages airs Sundays at 2 p.m.

On Feb. 10, the Third Chair Chamber Players perform Peter Schickele's "Piano Quintet No. 2" and former Lincolnite Rusty Banks' "'Montuno,' for oboe, bassoon, viola, cello, bass and percussion" from last November. A recital from the UNL Wind Ensemble completes this edition of "Nebraska Concerts."

From the Omaha Symphony Orchestra's Masterworks Series comes the Feb. 17 program, "The Symphony in Cinemascope." The concert features Leonard Bernstein's "Three Dance Episodes" from "On The Town," George Gershwin's "Concerto in F Major for Piano and Orchestra," and Erich Wolfgang Korngold's "Symphony in F-Sharp, Op. 40."

On Feb. 24, "Nebraska Concerts" features recitals from UNL faculty. First are selections by the University of Nebraska Brass Quintet, then a performance by horn professor Alan Mattingly along with Richard Fountain, Nicholas Kenney, Graham House and Ben Koch.
