Cummings was born Dec. 9, 1953 in Atkinson, Neb., to Donald and Dorothy Cummings. He attended Kearney Public Schools and graduated from Kearney High School in 1972. He graduated from UNL in 1976 with a degree in art.
Professionally, Cummings worked as a sound technician for Stanal Sounds in Kearney and traveled throughout the United States, Europe and South Africa during the late 1970s and 1980s doing sound for a variety of performers.
He is survived by his father; brothers Wray Cummings, Lincoln, and Jerry Cummings and his wife Laura, Mons, Belgium; nieces and nephews Erin Wilhelm and family, Lincoln, Emily Bingham and family, Fort Belvoir, Va., Ian Cummings, Minneapolis, and Christopher Cummings and Katie Mathis, both Lincoln.
Family requests memorials to the Sheldon Museum of Art.
