Former faculty member James “Jim” P. Ihrig died Feb. 26. He was 72.

A native of Gothenburg, he earned his bachelor’s from Dana College in Blair in 1961; and master’s and doctoral degrees from UNL. His career spanned 51 years, first as a public school teacher in Blair, and later as a community college administrator in North Platte followed by 21 years as president of Cloud County Community College in Concordia, Kan.

Ihrig was a senior lecturer in educational administration in the College of Education and Human Sciences from January 1998 until his retirement in May 2008.

Survivors include his wife, three daughters, a granddaughter and other relatives. Services were March 1 in Lincoln. Memorials are suggested to the Cloud County Community College Scholarship Fund, Concordia, Kan.
