Ross hosts free ‘Hot Coffee’ screening, discussion Dec. 18
Dec 16th, 2011 | By tfedderson2 | Category: Arts & Entertainment, Dec. 15The Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center will host a panel discussion and free screening of Susan Saladoff’s film “Hot Coffee,” at 1 p.m., Dec. 18. The discussion will include Saladoff via Skype.
“Hot Coffee” reveals what really happened to Stella Liebeck, the Albuquerque, N.M., woman who spilled coffee on herself and sued McDonalds. The film also explores how and why the case garnered so much media attention, who funded the effort and to what end.
Saladoff is an Oregon lawyer with 25 years of experience practicing law. “Hot Coffee” is her first film.
Along with Saladoff, the movie talk panel will include: Mark Christensen, partner with the law firm of Cline Williams Wright Johnson and Oldfather; John Carroll, a licensed registered nurse and attorney; Steve Lathrop, a state senator from the Omaha-based 12th Legislative district and an attorney; Robert Evnen, an attorney with Woods and Aitken; and Beth Burkstrand-Reid, a professor in the College of Law.
The free screening of “Hot Coffee” starts at 1 p.m., with the movie talk panel to follow.
