The Lied Center for Performing Arts has received a tourism marketing grant from the Nebraska Tourism Commission. The $15,000 award will be used to promote the Lied’s 25th anniversary Broadway performances to Nebraska communities outside of Lincoln.

The Nebraska Tourism Commission awarded 25 of the grants totaling nearly $180,000 to entities across the state. The funds are used to promote Nebraska’s tourist attractions and activities.

The Lied grant was the biggest awarded.

“The Lied Center’s 25th anniversary season is going to be one of the biggest seasons in Lied Center history featuring marquee artists in every art form,” said Bill Stephan, executive director of the Lied Center. “We are so grateful to the Nebraska Tourism Commission for selecting the Lied Center to receive this grant. The Lied Center attracts more than 30,000 visitors from outside of Lincoln every year and we know that this special anniversary season will attract even more visitors to the capital city.”

Funding for tourism marketing grants comes from revenue generated by the state lodging tax. Proposals came from 71 applicants requesting nearly $650,000 in funding.

The Lied Center’s 25th anniversary season lineup will be announced May 15.
