The program, designed for professionals in health care, real estate, engineering, architecture and interior design, is available online and on-campus.
The 18-credit hour program draws on UNO expertise in gerontology and UNL expertise in interior design.
Design issues surrounding the aging population ranks in the top 10 biggest concerns expressed by members of the design profession in a 2012 survey according to DesignIntelligence magazine.
“The choice of door hardware or window coverings for the built environment, for example, has an impact on our accessibility and safety as we age,” said Betsy Gabb, interior design professor at UNL. “Being able to educate professionals about the options and the outcomes of these choices makes the difference between someone thriving and someone at risk.”
