NET, UNL Extension offer ‘Recession Survival Guide’
Jun 12th, 2009 | By tfedderson2 | Category: Campus News, Issue, June 11, 2009UNL Extension experts will explain money-saving tactics to stretch your grocery dollars, trim your family budget and make your home more energy efficient in the NET Television production “Recession Survival Guide,” airing at 8 p.m. June 16 on NET1 and NET-HD. The program repeats on NET1 and NET-HD at 11 p.m. June 16 and 9 p.m. June 18. It also airs at 8 p.m. June 28 on NET2.
NET Television senior producer Mike Tobias interviewed UNL Extension experts on five specific topics for the program. The “Recession Survival Guide” segments include “Cutting Food Costs” with Lancaster County Extension Educator Alice Henneman; “Household Expenses” and “Managing Money” with UNL Extension Family Economist Kathy Prochaska-Cue; “Energy Savings” with UNL Extension Housing and Environment Specialist Shirley Niemeyer; and “Handling Stress” with Seward County Extension Educator Gail Brand. The “Recession Survival Guide” is a partnership between NET Television and UNL Extension.

NET Radio will air a special call-in show in July. Reporter Fred Knapp will host the show featuring Creighton University Economist Ernie Goss, UNL professor of economics Henrick Van Den Berg and Beatty Brasch who is the executive director of the Center for People in Need in Lincoln.
