Tractor museum open house is May 1

The all-day event starts with a 10 a.m. parade of power. Museum tractors will be featured along with others brought in by the public.
John Wiles will discuss the history of the museum and John Deere tractor design at 1 p.m. in Chase Hall. Wiles, a 1977 UNL graduate, works for John Deere and also worked at the tractor test laboratory.
The open house will also feature Thermal Thunder, a custom built tractor powered by a 4,200 horsepower turbine engine.
Additional open house offerings include new and improved tractor exhibitions; a display from the Crofton-based Lewis and Clark Pulley Museum; the Lyndon Ochsner Family Rope Makers; homemade ice cream from Crawford Country Creamery; and concessions from Hy-Vee.
