Children can learn origami at two free workshops

Two free origami workshops for children ages 7-10 will be presented Oct. 23 at the Lentz Center for Asian Culture. The workshops will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-4 p.m. and are available because of an educational outreach grant from the Hixson-Lied Foundation. Workshop attendees must be accompanied by an adult. Limited seating is available; call 472-5841 to reserve a seat.

Origami is the Japanese art of making birds, animals and other items by folding paper into the desired shapes. These workshops will take place during the Lentz Center's "Japanese Prints from the 19th and 20th Centuries" exhibition. Children will be able to make animals, flowers and other items depicted in prints. Supplies and light refreshments will be provided.

The Lentz Center is in the lower level of the Hewit Place building at 1155 Q St. For information, visit www.unl.edu/lentz.
