Coffee and cake, wine and hors d'oeuvres-and plenty of art will highlight MEDICI's 10th Anniversary Celebration Fund-raiser from 7 to 10 p.m. on Feb. 19.
A Espresso machine circa 1950s from the collection of Dale Nordyke. Part of the MEDICI 10th Anniversary Celebration Exhibition Feb. 14-19 at the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.
The centerpiece of the party will be art donated by 30 professors, alumni and friends of the department. Each couple purchasing a $250 premium ticket will take home one of the works. Individuals with $30 admission tickets will also receive a work of original art. This year's party favor will be a demitasse made by a ceramics graduate student or faculty member.
The celebration will feature a raffle of sweet and savory cakes made by some of Lincoln's outstanding bakers and an exhibition of espresso machines collected by Dale Nordyke, owner of The Mill. The exhibition will be installed in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery a week before the event and can be seen from noon to 4 p.m. Feb. 14-19.
During the decade that MEDICI has served as the friends group for the UNL Department of Art and Art History, the organization has given more than $100,000 for the purchase of kilns, presses, papermaking equipment and visiting scholars.
