Kooser featured in Feb. 4 'Passion and Poetry' event
United States Poet Laureate Ted Kooser will appear with Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra in a unique performance titled, "Passion and Poetry," at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 4 at Kimball Recital Hall.
Under the baton of Ed Polochick, the LSO will perform Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet Suite No. 3, Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Overture-Fantasy, Berlioz's Romeo et Juliette: Love Scene, and Bernstein's West Side Story Symphonic Dances.
Between each piece, Kooser will read selections from poetry he has written, including his now-famous Valentine's Day poems.
Tickets for LSO's "Passion and Poetry" concert are on sale now at the Lincoln Symphony Box Office, 476-2211.
Tickets prices are for $26/$34/$42, with half-price for students and children.
The public is invited to a free pre-concert lecture, 6:45-7:15 p.m. at Westbrook Music Building room 119.
