Ross hosts student appreciation event Sept. 21

The Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center will hold a student appreciation night Sept. 21.

Students will be admitted to any screening for $1. Regular student admission is $6. In addition, concessions can be purchased at reduced prices - $1 each for a medium popcorn or 20 ounce bottle of soda.

A valid NCard is required for admission and concession purchases.

Showing Sept. 21 are "Quinceañera," a tale of a Latino teenager facing womanhood; "Sketches of Frank Gehry," a documentary about the noted architect; and the International Experimental Cinema Exposition Traveling Showcase, presenting celluloid work in its true format.

Student appreciation night at the Ross started in the spring 2006 semester. According to Danny Ladely, director of the Ross, the event started after the theater, for the first time in its 33-year history, sold more student tickets than regular adult tickets in 2005.

Ladely said the student appreciation night was started to further encourage student use of the Ross.

Student appreciation nights at the Ross will continue through the fall and spring. Ladely said the fall appreciation nights are Oct. 26 and Nov. 16.

Additional information, including show times, is available online at www.theross.org or by calling 472-5353.
