Drum and bugle corps play Memorial Stadium

The Cornhusker Summer Music Games Drum and Bugle Corps competition will be at 7:30 p.m. July 14 at Memorial Stadium.

The competition features hundreds of talented young musicians and dancers.

Under the auspices of Drum Corps International, each drum and bugle corps is a marching ensemble of up to 150 musicians and color guard members. Though the drum corps resemble marching bands, they differ in that all instruments are brass and percussion. Each corps offers a unique style that mixes sophisticated themes, difficult music and complex choreography.

The five groups performing at UNL are: the Blue Devils from Concord, Calif., the 11-time world champions (including last year); the Phantom Regiment from Rockford, Ill., (fourth place in 2007); Pioneer from Milwaukee, Wis.; Revolution from San Antonio, Texas; and the Troopers from Casper, Wyo.

Ticket prices range from $15 to $25. Group rates are available. Tickets are available at www.dci.org/tickets or by calling (317) 275-1212, ext. 3. For more information, go to www.unl.edu/band/dcishow.
