June 7 jazz concert on NET

NET Radio will present a "Live Jazz Special" with the Darryl White Group at 7 p.m. June 7. The concert will be broadcast live from a free performance in Grand Island's Hornady-Marshall Theatre at College Park, 3180 W. Highway 34. It will also be taped for a later broadcast.

Darryl White, associate professor of trumpet at UNL, leads the performance group. Professional musicians joining White for the performance are: Dave Pietro (New York City) on alto sax; Jeff Jenkins (Denver) on keyboard; Craig Akin (New York City) on bass guitar; Michael Pujado (Omaha) on percussion; and Brandon Draper (Kansas City) on drums.

The musicians will also lead a free jazz workshop for high school and college students, 3:30 to 5 p.m., June 7 at the Hornady-Marshall Theatre.

The performance is free and open to the public. Tickets can be reserved at www.netnebraska.org or by calling 1-888-638-7346. The audience must be seated by 6:45 p.m.
