K.P. Rajurkar, professor of industrial and management systems engineering, received the Society of Manufacturing Engineers’ top international award, the SME Gold Medal, at the society’s annual conference in Philadelphia. Rajurkar was selected for his contributions to technical communications through published literature, technical writings or lectures.

His research helped pave the way for the establishment of UNL’s Center for Nontraditional Manufacturing Research.

Sutton was nominated by the Great Plains Chapter. He has contributed a high level of knowledge creation and application in landscape architecture for 34 years at UNL. He spearheaded the start-up of the university’s bachelor of landscape architecture degree program.

Ronald Yoder, head of biological systems engineering, has been named to the 2009 class of American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers Fellows. ASABE cited Yoder for outstanding accomplishments as professor and department head at UNL as well as the University of Tennessee.

Since being appointed department head in 2004, Yoder worked on the track replacement at the Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory and hired its new director. He also coordinated the creation of a new university-wide minor in energy sciences and helped increase the department’s endowed scholarship funds.
