The Sheldon Museum of Art is joining forces with two other museums to present an Art Triathlon celebrating the Special Olympics 2010 USA National Games.

The free event will take place at the Sheldon, Haydon Art Center and Lincoln Arts Council from 3 to 7 p.m., July 20.

Nine artists will lead hands-on art projects designed to be fun, creative and inclusive in the celebration of art and sport.

Participants may begin the Art Triathlon at any of the three museums. Guests will meet local artists, work on art projects and pick up a “passport” to guide them through the event.

The featured artists (by venue) are:

• Sheldon — Nancy Childs, Allison Fees and Sean P. Morrissey

• Haydon Art Center (335 N. 8th St.) — Janine Copple, Dika Eckersley and Jewel Noll

• Lincoln Arts Council (920 O St.) — Byron Anway, Sally Cox and Nolan Tredway

The Art Triathlon is funded a grant from the Nebraska Arts Council.
