Obituary – Julie Poykko-Post

Poykko-Post was born July 13, 1953 in Gackle, N.D., to Wesley and Joyce Poykko. She graduated from Gackle Public Schools, received an undergraduate degree from the University of Wyoming and a post-graduate degree from North Dakota State University.
While a UNL employee, she received the Vice Chancellor for Research Invaluable Service Award. Poykko-Post previously worked as a private consultant and in the City of Lincoln’s Urban Development department as a community development program specialist
Poykko-Post was a board member and former president of the Interfaith Housing Coalition, an organization that offers affordable housing for low-income persons in downtown Lincoln. She was a member of the Lincoln Little League Board of Directors and was active in the Unitarian Church.
She is survived by sons, Eric and Carl Post, both of Lincoln; mother, Joyce Poykko, Gackle, N.D.; and brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Sue Poykko, Grand Forks, N.D.
Memorial services were Jan. 31. Memorials requested to the Interfaith Housing Coalition or the family.
