Chamber Friends present Hesperus Feb. 25

The Lincoln Friends of Chamber Music presents the early music ensemble Hesperus at 8 p.m. Feb. 25. This concert, the third of the 40th anniversary season, occurs in the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery Auditorium.

David Breckbill, Doane College professor of music, will present a pre-concert lecture at 7:30 p.m. to acquaint the audience with the evening's program.

Hesperus is based in Washington D.C. Scott Reiss, recorder, and Tina Chancey, pardessus (a high treble viol), along with a guest harpsichordist, will present an evening of music from the group's broad repertoire. The members of Hesperus and their frequent guest performers have over 20 recordings to their collective credit spanning a wide variety of time periods including European Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque eras and representing Appalachian, Celtic, Sephardic, Cajun, Andean and African traditions.

Members of Hesperus will greet the audience in the Great Hall for a post-concert reception. Parking for those with special needs is available in the lot north of the Gallery. Tickets are $27 for adults, $22 for cardholding members of NET Radio and $6 for students and may be purchased at the door.

Hesperus appears in place of the previously scheduled appearance by the Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartet.
