Lightning Bugs to play March 20 'Free at 6'

The Free at 6 series at the Lied Center for Performing Arts continues with a 6 p.m. March 20 performance by The Lightning Bugs.

The swinging jazz trio - inspired in name by the classic pop band Glow Worm - is dedicated to the standards of the 1930s and 40s. Members of the Lincoln-based group are Reynold Peterson, Steve Hanson and Jim Pipher. Their repertoire features jazz and pop standards.

The Lightning Bugs formed in 1987. They have released three albums, "The Lightning Bugs," "Bugology," and "Stretchin' Out."

The performance is free and open to the public.

For more information, go to www.liedcenter.org.

The Free at 6 series was created to recognize the broad range of artistic talent in the Lincoln area. It also opens the Lied to a wider audience. Free at 6 performances are 45 minutes.
