Program links undergrads, teen immigrants
On Friday afternoons, UNL senior Krystal Teixeira heads to North Star High School to meet with 15-year-old Viridiana Morales, a Mexican immigrant. The two settle down in the school's commons area to study and catch up on each other's lives. One recent day, Morales practiced reciting a children's story, "If You Give a Pig a Pancake," which she had to memorize and perform for an oral communications class. Teixeira listened intently as Morales read aloud, nodding encouragement.

William Wallace, an internationally recognized authority on Michelangelo and his contemporaries, will deliver the next Geske Lecture at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 in the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery.

Corea, Burton to play Valentine's Day show
Pianist/composer Chick Corea has been added to the Lied Center's 2006-2007 season. Joining him will be longtime collaborator and vibraphone master, Gary Burton, for a Feb. 14 concert. Tickets for this event are available.

American Life in Poetry
