Free screening of 'Heima' is Dec. 13
The Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center hosts a free screening of the documentary "Heima" at 7 p.m. Dec. 13.
In the summer of 2006, Sigur Rós returned home to Iceland to play a series of free, unannounced concerts for the people of Iceland. "Heima" documents the legendary tour with reflections from the band and new acoustic performances.
Also at the Ross, "The Future Is Unwritten" opens Dec. 14. The film, directed by British filmmaker Julien Temple, chronicles the career of Clash frontman Joe Strummer. Four years after his death, Strummer's influence remains global, and the film treats him not just as a legend or musician, but as a communicator and cultural icon.
Drawing on both a shared punk history and the close personal friendship, which developed over the last years of Strummer's life, Temple's film is a celebration of Strummer's life.
"The Future Is Unwritten" runs through Dec. 23.
