'Free at 6' presents Gospel Mass Choir
The Gospel Mass Choir, led by Oscar Harriott, will perform Feb. 3 as part of the Lied Center for Performing Arts' "Free at 6" series. The concert begins at 6 p.m. on the Lied's main stage.

| | Presenting traditional gospel music - with foot-stomping, hand-clapping, and spontaneous movement encouraged - the Gospel Mass Choir will perform works by James Glover, Richard Smallwood and others. The presentation will include African drumming, the GMWA Liturgical Dancers, and a performance of "These Hands," arranged for the hearing impaired.
A native of Jamaica, Harriott is a 30-year resident of Lincoln. He is the founder and director of the Community Gospel Choir and director of the First United Methodist Inspirational Singers. As an actor, Harriott has had several roles with the Lincoln Community Playhouse. He is a board member of the Lincoln Arts Council, a recipient of the KZUM Cultural Arts Award and the Mayor's Arts Award, deputy chair of the Lincoln Commission on Human Rights, a member of NAACP, and a governor-appointed representative to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration.
The remaining 2005-2006 Free at 6 event is Paul Haar, saxophone, on March 27.
